Costa Brava Resort Description
The famous Costa Brava extends Northeast of Barcelona to the French Border. While it is most known for its beaches and resorts, the coast here is scenic and rugged, with coves, cliffs, and mountaintop lookouts. Picturesque towns and villages can be found all along the Costa Brava, as well as the Greek and Roman ruins of Empúries.
Two inland towns make for good day-trips if you're vacationing on the coast. The riverside town of Girona (Gerona in Spanish) features an 13th-century cathedral, an old Jewish quarter, and some museums. The area's most well-known museum is in Figueres (or Figueras): the Salvador Dalí Museum is a must-see for lovers of surrealism.
